Aliza Cross Country
"BANG as the clapper went the 12 year old girls set off. I was sprinting around the corner of the field trying to tell my friend beside me “Run! All the girls at the back are catching up to us!!!
EWW mud!! I was slipping and sliding all around the mud puddle on the track trying to catch up to my opponents but I was already tired. Gasping for breath I was determined to try and pass them. The track was winding through the trees towards Tamaki College. It got really narrow in places. Sometimes I even felt like I was going to fall down the bank
As I got closer to the finish line everybody was cheering for me to run . I put on a burst of speed and gasping for breath ran passed one of my opponents Chante. As I finished I felt drained of energy but I was proud of myself for coming 9th.

Don't Smoke by Aliza and Sesalina

People around the world smoke and that causes a big problem. Did you know that there are 4,000 chemicals in every single cigarette. Because of these chemical people who smoke can get sick or end up in the hospital ready for their lives to end. Smoking is a very bad idea because if you smoke for the first time then your body will want more and more because it is addictive. When the smoke gets into your body it damages everything even your heart and brain including your lungs.
More and more people buy smokes and they don’t realise they're spending more than 105 dollars every week if they smoke about a pack a day. Some people waste their money on smokes even though they have nowhere to live. Instead of buying smokes people would have a lot more money to buy shopping or things for their children.
When you smoke it can also affect your appearance. You start to have wrinkles because the smoke dries your skin. Smoking can cause a lot of problems such as it gives you stained teeth and even bad breath.
As you know teenagers around the world smoke, Why do teenagers smoke? I think they get influenced by their family or friends but I wonder why they want to start. Smoking is a bad thing and teenagers should stop smoking because it can damage your body, affect how you look and waste money. Teenagers, before you start you should think about smoking and how it affects your body. It might even make you die at a very young age.

Valerie Adams A disappointing loss Aliza & Awhina

With a very disappointing loss Valerie Adams came in with the silver medal competing in the shot-put. Unfortunately she was defeated by Nadzeya Ostapchuk. Valerie’s personal best was 21.34 which didn’t match Nadzeya Ostapchuk’s winning shot of 21.36. Following the competition she had a personal interview which she was visibly upset and had an emotional evening. All though she came back with a silver medal all her family were proud of her achievements.

Brown Brother Mele & Aliza
Joshua Iosefo a prefect at Mt Roskill Grammar had to deliver a speech to the school. Instead of a speech he wrote a poem titled “ Brown Brother.” His friend Rashad posted it on youtube where it came to attention of Campbell live, who presented it on national television.
The message Joshua was trying to convey to us all about stereotypes. Don’t limit yourself from what other people think. Don’t be afraid to change yourself. Champions never give up is known as the message too.
Our response to his poem is that, stereotypes aren't real no matter how many people believe in it. I think that the pathway to making your dreams come true is the three D’s, known as Determination, Dedication and Desire.
