Valerie Adams A disappointing loss Aliza & Awhina

With a very disappointing loss Valerie Adams came in with the silver medal competing in the shot-put. Unfortunately she was defeated by Nadzeya Ostapchuk. Valerie’s personal best was 21.34 which didn’t match Nadzeya Ostapchuk’s winning shot of 21.36. Following the competition she had a personal interview which she was visibly upset and had an emotional evening. All though she came back with a silver medal all her family were proud of her achievements.

Brown Brother Mele & Aliza

Joshua Iosefo a prefect at Mt Roskill Grammar had to deliver a speech to the school. Instead of a speech he wrote a poem titled “ Brown Brother.” His friend Rashad posted it on youtube where it came to attention of Campbell live, who presented it on national television.

The message Joshua was trying to convey to us all about stereotypes. Don’t limit yourself from what other people think. Don’t be afraid to change yourself. Champions never give up is known as the message too.

Our response to his poem is that, stereotypes aren't real no matter how many people believe in it. I think that the pathway to making your dreams come true is the three D’s, known as Determination, Dedication and Desire.

Precious Mckenzie Sesalina & Aliza

Aliza Picasso

Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso were both born on the same area. They are two famous painters who people around the world like to know more and more about them. Picasso is a very unusual painter, who tries to paint in many different styles. Which in Henri  Matisse he draws like most artist, but uses colours that are dark.

Picasso drew a painting that was all about the war, suffering and sadness, But Matisse’s  painting was different and had weird shapes on her face but it didn’t look like he’s painting was happy or sad.

Henri Matisse use very dark colours on the weeping woman. He used some good ideas on some of his painting. On Picasso's painting there are 2 different views that are shown. However, in Matisse's painting it shows from only one. Like the rest of the famous artist.

Matisse and Picasso both used bright colours. There painting is unnatural and unrealistic too. Picasso's weeping woman contrasting  colours mainly red oranges yellow, contrasting with blue and green. Picasso also uses strong emotions. However Matisse uses different colours.

Pablo picasso and Henri Matisse had used different lines on both their paintings. Pablo Picasso used a lot of shapes and very crooked lines, He even used  different kinds of shapes for his backgrounds. Matisse had good shadings on his lines, and he had perfect painting.

Kiwi Kick

28/05/12

As we were walking over to the courts I could see the trees dancing and leaves were falling. My teeth were chattering and I was shivering. My fingers felt numb so I rubbed them together briskly. I said to my friend hopefully kiwi kick is going to be fun I said every Thursday we have kiwi kick with Sam and Anita.

As we got to the courts Sam and Anita gave us some warm ups to do. Anita gave us our first warm up which was counties tag as we had finished our first warm up we got into to a game that involved our teacher Mr quires and our coaches Sam and Anita.

As we got into a game we had to get into groups. after we sorted our groups we had to stand in lines and try and get the teacher with the ball. But we had to kick it if we kick it and it gets one of the teachers or the coaches we get a point.
